Wheel Spacer Install Guide
Degree of Difficulty: 2
Tools & parts needed:

1) Lug nut wrench
2) Jack or jack stand(milk crate)
There are all kinds of wheels spacers available now. Most of them require
removing the rear wheel bolting on the spacers to the existing wheel studs and
then simply putting the wheel back on using the original lug nuts. I have seen some
where you have to remove the original wheel studs. They give you 4" bolts nuts
and lock washers to bolt the wheel to the hub with the spacer sandwiched in
between.
I would stay away from this design. It is very difficult to mount these
because you are trying to hold 4 bolts in place while you slide a fairly heavy
object(wheel/tire) on to them. Trust me when I tell you, it sucks! Wheels spacers
are ideal for flat tracking or ice racing. I don't know that I would fully trust them to
hold up during XC, MX, or trail riding. You could certainly throw on a set to see if
you like the wider rear end before you go out and buy a $300-$400 aftermarket
axle. CRJ Performance was nice enough to donate a set of their spacers for this
project. CRJ simply uses a 1-piece adapter that threads on to your existing wheel
stud and makes it longer.  You will need to order 1 for each wheel stud. So if you
are doing front and rear, make sure they send you 16 of the adapters.
Step 1 Purchase a set of wheel spacers
of your choice.
Step 2  Jack up the front or rear of the
quad and remove the wheels.
Step 3 Install the spacers as per the
manufacturer's instructions. For the
CRJs, all you do is tighten the spacer
onto the stud and make sure the
spacer bottoms out to the wheel hub.
They recommend not using air tools.
Step 4 Reinstall the wheels/tires and
you are done.
Here is a picture of the wheel spacers I would
stay away from. You will notice that they come
with the 4" bolts. And you must hammer out the
rear wheel studs to install these. This is a very
bad design and I think Dura-Blue is
discontinuing these. So you may see them
being sold on the net for very cheap. STAY
AWAY, YOU WILL NOT LIKE THEM.
Thanks again to CRJ Performance for supplying the
wheel spacers for this project. Please visit their web-site
for more information including on-line ordering.
